Celebrating Support Haven’s Global Impact

We are filled with gratitude as we reflect upon the huge impact that we’ve had together the past three and a half months.

Support Haven started with a single post and an idea to coach others through the pandemic. Back in March, it was a bright light in a time of darkness and uncertainty as countries all over the world were starting to enter lockdown.

Much to our surprise, that light grew quickly as over 120 coaches joined us in volunteering their time and expertise to offer free practical emotional support to anyone feeling challenged by COVID-19. Kindling a bonfire of hope, we banded together to help people see possibilities for a way forward during a time of crisis.

As mentioned in this “Community of Changemakers” interview with our co-founders, the plan was to stay open for at least three months.

Now that we are adjusting to a ‘new normal’, countries are lifting lockdown measures, businesses are re-opening, and we are starting to see our loved ones again, we draw this temporary crisis response to a close.

We will do that in the same way we started: On a hopeful note, inspired by the collective kindness of fellow humans wanting to make an impact.

Impact in Numbers

As a heart-driven initiative we are proud that so many people supported us and benefited from our pro bono coaching services along the way. Here’s a quick look at some of our stats.

  • 122 volunteer coaches who trained with Animas in transformational life coaching
  • Each coach volunteering to offer 2 hours per week pro bono
  • Coaching in 25 languages offered
  • We launched within 2 weeks from founding to public launch of our coach database
  • Over 200 coaches in our internal Facebook community lending their moral support
  • Many coaches had multiple sessions with their clients, some even up to 6 sessions each
  • A collaborative partnership with Furlonteer, connecting to over 2,000 furloughed professionals

Impact in Stories of Lives Changed

What speaks even more than numbers are the stories of the clients we helped. For many people, it was the first time they had experienced coaching, and they were thankful to receive support in such a difficult time.

Here are some of the heartfelt shares from some of our clients:

  • “Support Haven has been such a great help during the transition period. I was feeling lost and feeling like I was failing in life. My coach came to my rescue at the perfect timing and I was ready to receive her coaching. From her coaching, I am more open with friends and family around me. She has been one of the greatest help in my life. I can’t thank her enough for her work but really, can’t thank her enough for her being a great human.
  • “I now feel like I have a clearer picture about what I’m looking for in my career, a greater understanding of my interests and my values, and a plan of action moving forwards. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity. It was invaluable.”
  • “I was introduced to Support Haven by a very close friend of mine. Within one session my life coach helped me work through some thoughts that had been troubling me for some time. “
  • “At the end of the session, I felt heard and seen as though someone understood where I was coming from. I felt challenged and empowered to take more steps and delve deeper into my issues on my own too. It’s been almost a week now and I’m still feeling the effects of the coaching and seeing more ways of applying what I learned about myself.”

And on the coach side, we are happy to report that many of our coaches also had positive experiences being part of this initiative.

Here are some highlights from some of our coaches:

  • “I really enjoyed it, feeling like I was part of something bigger.”
  • “A lot of coaches wanted to support people but were wondering how. Support Haven made it happen.”
  • “I gained new skills, more confidence, and I enjoyed being part of a team again.”
  • The daughter of one of our coaches was a client of another one of our coaches. She had been furloughed and was having a hard time. She was incredibly grateful to have been professionally coached by “someone who wasn’t her mom.” Haha
